Please note that the Showcase will take place over 3 weeknights to reduce audience size for safety. Dancers are only required to attend the night they will perform, and we suggest they watch the livestream of other performances from their home. Family members who are in a high risk group, or are not vaccinated or who have problems entering and exiting the theater are also welcomed to view the performance online. Use This Link to reserve your tickets BY MAY 8
Location: Harmon Auditorium on the Campus of Drake University near the corner of 25th street and Carpenter (One block north of University Ave) in Des Moines. Freeway exits are either M.L. King or 31st Street. A parking lot is on the east side of 25th Street. Call our cell phone 279-0742 if you get lost.
Schedule: The theater will open by 4:00 pm. Students should arrive and be ready to dance by 5:30pm. (PADE on stage warm up class will begin at 4:45pm)
The showcase will start each night at 6:00pm. Onstage rehearsals for student showcase material will begin promptly at 5:30. All dancers should arrive dressed and ready to go and proceed to the front 2 rows of the house (audience area). Students in Mini Mover or Pre Ballet levels are expected to sit with their families. Students in levels A-D will be expected to sit in the first 2 rows of the theater when they are not on stage. Dancers will be called forward to perform their part(s).
Our hope is that the 1 show with pre-ballet and mini-mover dancers will wrap up in one hour. The other 2 shows are likely to be about 2 hours in length.
We hope you enjoy the Pointe Academy Dance Ensemble’s repertory interspersed with regular showcase material as this replaces what we would normally have done as a ticketed stand-alone show for both the 2020 and 2021 school year. Feel free to donate generously to the Performance Fund since the PADE group relies on ticket sales to help pay for costumes and other costs.
Parents are welcome to videotape the theater rehearsals, but we request that your full attention be on the dancers during performances. We plan to record the actual performance and hope to make those available for sale or maybe download.
It is our expectation and desire that all dancers and their families remain for the entire performance. Attendance Awards and an“all performer” bow will conclude the show.

What should I wear to perform in?  For both the In studio rehearsal and the showcase:   Facemask of your choice.   Dancers should wear our school’s dress code, hair in a bun. All Pink for the mini movers & pre ballet except for boys (black & white)Black skirted leotard & pink tights for the girls. Black tights & white shirts for the boys. Black skirts may be available to borrow for the older girls if they don’t have one…please reserve your skirt by May 8.Girls may wear light eye makeup
How do I reserve seats in the theater? Before May 8, Use this linkhttps://forms.gle/6SrGAASNEZLEjT1w9  to reserve the number of seats you would like for your family. We’ll be social distancing the audience, so seats are limited, but we do want your dancer’s ardent fans to be there in person to clap and cheer. We appreciate your thoughtful consideration of who in your family will be safe to attend in person and who in your dancer’s fan club might better view the event online. ALL PERFORMANCES WILL BE AVAILABLE AS A LIVESTREAM ONLINE, AND WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO VIEW ONLINE THE SHOWS YOU DO NOT ATTEND IN PERSON.If you need to attend more than one performance in person, please fill out that online form separately for each show. We’ll be assigning seats and you’ll get a packet of tickets for your family group at the in studio rehearsals/photo shoot days.
Will there be printed programs?A PDF of the program will be available on our website a few days before the show. In order to remain “contactless” we will not be handing those out at the theater. Plan to download and print it if you want to have a paper version with you when you get to the theater. Or save a tree and download it to your device to view from home while you are watching the livestream or at the theater during the show.
How do I view the livestream or buy a recording of the shows? We plan to make the livestream available on our youtube channel and website. Copies of a recording of the livestream should be available for each show, and we’ll probably have to charge a small amount for that, but we have not nailed down all the logistics of that yet, so have not set a price. We plan to have a signup sheet at the theater for you to buy a copy, or we might make it available for download from the internet.
